Default Power steering has no feel! :S

Basically, I just got my hands on a VP V6 and the steering is awful! I have virtually no feel in the steering wheel as I come around the corner. Feels dangerous :S

Firstly, is this normal? If yes, is there an easy way to get more feel?

If its not normal... any idea what my problem is?

    Cheers

This could be a symptom of worn shocks, worn ball joints, worn bushes and saggy springs.

You need to check everything under the car, or have a place like Pedders check it for you if you don't know much.

Does it just feel light?? Correct me if i'm wrong guys but don't the VP's have progressive steering and the faster you go the heavier it gets, to give you more feel at speed.? How is it at highway speed. The feel is computer controlled as well. Mine is anyway but it is a Statesman.

    Cheers.....................Pete!

Only up-spec models like Calais, Statesman and Caprice, the rest have super light steering that has no feel standard.

Tyyre pressures are fine. Would be harder steering if they were low Id think.
I restted the computer and it seemed to be slightly better. I am selling the car anyway.
How does a car with only 70,000 ks have problems? :S Annoying!
    Thanks guys

coz it old. trust me. rubber has a finite life, its a ticking time bomb. some rubber components probably have failed in the front end.

    Yea, I guess...
I should mention! I have only noticed this as I have been driving it more (just a got temp reg). The car has great feel at anything above 20. I drop below it... NUMB!

It sounds good to me! People want cars that are easy to park in cities. There is a lot of full lock both ways at times. So I would not be worried since your selling. Most potential buyers have a hard time with sensory overload when test driving unfamiliar cars!

I was also told to never reuse a condom in the front end! (I couldn't resist it)

Well I am selling it to a friend... and wanted everything working well. I guess its not an issue unless you like to take a quick turn. Dangerous if you want to make a quick turn. Ah well...
Think I will leave it. At least it works :P
    Thanks again guys.
