i have a 5L vq sometimes when i hop in the car drives sweet as, other times when i hop in it doesn't want to change gears waiting till about 4500rpm before it changes and thats taking it real easy, if this happens i pull over then turn the car off then on and the trans starts working properly, i have a feeling it is an electrical problem, any ideas???
it won't be electrical - your transmission is manually controlled by the kickdown cable which is located on the throttle body.
2 possible problems:
1. stuffed transmission
2. sticky kickdown cable. when it starts happening, check the kickdown cable on the throttle body to ensure it is retracting with the throttle.
here's a photo for reference

the kick down cable seems to be retracting ok, i dont see how it could be a stuffed trans when it works fine after i turn the car off then back on, maybe just needs servicing?
well, are you 100% sure it's the turning off / back on that actually fixes the problem? maybe it's the shifting from drive to park and back to drive that fixes it. either way it's not electrical because the box has nothing to do with the computer. i would definitely get it serviced if it's been a while though, some peoples transmission problems go away after a service![]()
