hey guys i have recently bought a 1990 vn commodore executive. it is red in color n the paint work is fair dull and average. i have 2 questions
1. what products would i need to revamp the color and make it look new again, and would this do anything noticabley?
or
2. how much would i be looking at respraying the whole car black, it is factory red at the moment.
thanks heaps 4 replys take it easy sam
1. Chances are nothing will get it to look new as the acryllic (?) paint has most likely faded. Other than that, a good cut and polish might do some good.
2. Minimum 4K for a dodge job. Around 6 for something better. Painting is one of those things where you really get what you pay for. Having said that, would be chaeper to buy a VS with 2-pack paint.
so your saying i cant paint my car black 4 under 4k? if the paints faded how good can you get it looking without getting resprayed?
where can i buy that from?
paint jobs aren't that expensive. depends what you want done. engine bay? inside the doors/boot? or just exterior? i'd say around 2-3k for exterior job.
you could paint it yourself for around $500 for the paints, you'd need a compressor and a spray gun. would be a lot of work doing all the correct prep, however, it ll be better then what you have now. Ofc it wont be as good as a full pro job, but its a cheap way out.
other ways, you can spray paint your car. do all the prep work, go matt black or white, will look dodgy but at least it ll look all the same.
You're probably wondering where you are. I'll tell you where you might be. You might be in the room that you die in. This is your wake up call.
maybe you could just get the clear redone

repo cut and polish.................and alot of elbow grease will get it looking nice....cause it cuts the crap faded paint from the surface. oh and you can pick it up at any auto store
