Although im not a fibreglasser I work in the marine industry and what I did was wrapped a piece of 75 x 75 mm wood in gladwrap and using VINAL ESTER resin laid up some glass around 3 sides of the timber and let it go off then peal it off the timber and gladwrap ( a quick and cheap mould release ) and trim to size to sit flat across the back of your kit and glass in place you can then use bolts through the the mesh with the nuts on inside of your new brackets. sounds hard but is really quick and easy the hardest bit is waiting for the resin to go off. Unless you no what resin the kit was made with it is advisable to use vinal ester as it will stick to all resins it is about the same price as normal (polyester) resin and available at surf shops boat builders etc . This way it is easy to change mesh after it is covered with stonechips etc or just change colour

rubber mallet, chalking gun and sikaflex, 10 mins work, 20 mins to set... good to go...

(Hint, if it's not obvious enough, be gentle with the hammer, and rest your kit on the ground on a blanket or something... don't say i didn't warn ye!!!)
