Default hsv center caps dont fit on my vn!!!

Finnaly got around to putting my Grange 18's on and the Hsv center caps dont fit!!!! there dont fit because of the bearing covers!

How do i get around this?

also the tryes on the rims are 235/40/18's and are only just clearing the front struts, 5mm maybe.

    should i conside 225's?

2 Options, you could put VR Hub assemblies on (not sure how this works with non ABS, as everytime i've seen the conversion it was on a VP with ABS)

Or you can do what i did, and get custom centres made, that fit over the hub assemblies. Theres a guy in SA i could put you onto who already has the exact measurements, so it would be a fairly simple task to make another set up and post to you.

could just buy the actual HSV sticker bit that goes on the centre cap and glue it onto your wheel. dunno how long it will stay there for

How would he do that? theres nothing to stick it to (other than the dust cover, but because its not flat, the sticker would last about 15 minutes at the most)

You can get VR hubs......, then they will fit. Not sure how much that will cost tho.

There made from scratch out of aluminium. Not sure what he's going to sell them for, so you'd have to email him to ask how much they are.

i just remember with my VT wheels there being a slight lip. i got some of the sticker things, and was gonna do the same thing with my wheels until i got some proper centre caps. they sit in there quite fine

ok the vr strut idea sounds like way to much work. and really the sticker thing wont work there is nothing to stick it to. i guess the only option i have is get some made up. ill email the bloke now. are the backs the same? or will the caps fit?

I'm not sure what you mean by 'are the backs the same'.

All 4 caps will be made identical, so even if you rotate your wheels, all the covers will still clear the dust covers. Also, you can get any design you want engraved onto them, or just have them flat (and stick the HSV stickers to them like stocky said)

    Heres what mine are

Been covered before. I have them on mine all you need to do is sand the ridges back on the center caps and knock the dust cover back slightly, clears fine.

Ok you can do this in 5 mins its easy as pie, i did this when i put on ve calais wheels onto my VN.. and the centre caps on the front are Perfecto.

Take off the dust cap, and use a hack saw to cut away one level of thread, use a file to tidy up the rough edges. then clean up the dust cap in a bit of petrol so you dont make a mess for this bit. Take the cap and gently using a hammer, flatten the face of the cap so that it wont buldge the cap out.

Replace the cap and your done,

would ther be a spacer available that would space out the rim just enough for the cap to clear the bearing cover?.. my 18" hsv rims on ma vn need about 5mm for the centre caps to fit, i tried taking off the bearing cover and fitting the caps and they still wouldnt fit.

spacers are illegal and dangerous (just ask stealthy), you'd be better off finding another way or just not having centrecaps

Spacers without longer wheel studs are dangerous

ok ive finally got my 4th wheel done in proper shadow chrome and new tyres. I need to get these caps on, so sand the ridges and try them then?

Then if not knock face of cover in? and cut a thread off?

I need to get these on!!
