Default installing VN factory cruise control

    Hey guys
I want to install cruise control in my VN but don't want aftermarket. I can pick up on a wreckers (self serve) for under $100.
My question is can I use one out of a VP

I have had another train of thought after reading threads on cruise control.
Can I use one out of a VR VS and replace the indicator stork which I think looks a little neater

My VG ute has factory cruise control which uses the buttons on the right side of the dash above the headlight switch. I think it looks pretty neat but I'm not sure how the VR-VS hooks up to the gearbox and whether the ecu plays any role

I have all the wiring to suit VN cruise control, and a VR module. I will see how/if they work together when I get around to drilling some holes and installing it.

Thanks guys, I really don't know which way to go, the problem I have is the switchs available at the wreckers show signs of age. As my car is a 30k car and the other buttons are next to perfect that might look odd.

not so much dirty but worn where finger tip presses button, but i think I will end up just doing VN/VP style, seems to be a little easier

Drama will be the power on /off momentary action switch on the stalk wont work in a vp/n so you cant turn it on without a bcm or some toggle circuitry but if you put the on/off switch which will have to be a push on push off type somewhere else the other 2 buttons on the vr/s stalk will work in a vn/p

To be honest I sort of need that thread also, but I won't be installing mine now until I have changed engines (don't want to have to relocate the module, unnecessary holes in metalwork = not tidy )

HAHA i want the Cruise control out of my 5ltr because where it sits in engine bay its ****ing stupid and i just don't like it!

So if anyone has a 5ltr 304 and wants an original kit be sure to let me know and ill rip it out sooner rather than later.

    Howdy all

Just wondering if anyone else has retrofitted the cruise control and run the wires through the main loom grommet rather than drilling a new hole in the firewall as the factory instructions state ?

And if you have drilled the new hole any chance of posting up a pic or two of exactly where it should be

Looking at hooking mine up when I have a couple of days off in a row next week but if I don't have to drill anything but the holes on the guard for the module it will be a little bit easier
If ignorance is bliss why aren't there more happy people around ?

    Fuse 10 I think

This has been posted a few times (not my work) but it's a good diagram to work with for the VN.

It's worth the few hours it takes to do. Fit the stepper motor and braket before the wires.

Found a VP at the wreckers today that had the loom for cruise, obviously fitted as dealer option as it was cable tied...
Been looking for a loom for awhile now that wasn't factory installed..
Still took ages to pull the loom out......
So Dash switches are in, now have loom and will go back when I have time to get an actual cruise module with cable and brackets..
Not sure if I have the 2 brake switches installed already but will check before going back to the wreckers
So after almost 2 years I am getting closer to having cruise LOL

Stay tuned although it may take another 2 years to finally actually do it LOL

I also have to get around to this job - I have a module with switchblock and all wiring in the shed.

Two options I'm sort of tossing up are

    1. Install cruise into the auto 5.0L VN, could drop it straight in.
    2. Install cruise into the 6spd LS1 VN. This would mean finding a way to hide as much of the setup and wiring as possible.
