How's it going,
Okay it's not my commodore, we have it at work and are absolutely stuffed for idea's.
Basically, the car came into work, wont start. Checked fuel pressure, that was fine. Checked for spark, had spark but was weak, strong enough to start the engine though. There's power to the injectors, and after a few things we tested and discovered no injection pulse.
Now the ecu, dfi module, crank sensor and immoboliser controls and powers the injectors and pulse. The oil pressure switch controls the fuel pump, that's working though.
We have fitted a new ecu, dfi module and even spark plugs. (before discovering the absence of injection pulse of course)
The crank angle sensor controls both injection pulse and spark. Generally a faulty or unservicable crank angle sensor will kill spark, this has spark but slightly weak.
We fitted a new crank angle sensor, it being pretty much the last possible thing that could be causing it. Now, we have stronger spark, but still no injection pulse.
Initially after fitting the crank sensor, the fuel pump would not operate..a few whacks at the fuel tank and she was away. But still, no go.
The two main computer earths located on the water pump and dfi module bracket where slightly corroded, cleaned them up and chucked em back in, still nothing.
Oh also, the owner lost the remote for the immoboliser, but there is a over ride switch in the passenger side door seal, which is switched off. We contemplated whether this could be faulty, but after studying a wiring diagram, if this was faulty the injectors would not get power, which indicates it is working fine.
So ha ha, any idea's guys, send them my way.
Many thanks!
Is fuel definitely being delivered to the cylinders? Coils packs buggered? Sorry, not a mechanic by any means and you've probably checked that, just trying to help![]()
Fuel pump is operating yes, fuel is getting to the fuel rail (checked fuel pressure).
*EDIT* No fuel is entering the cylinders.
*BUMP* come on guys, must have some idea?! :P
I would be looking at bypassing the immobilizer, just to rule that out. Also chase the wiring to the injectors back to the computer and see if there is signal there, to rule out a break in any wiring. All pretty simple stuff, so Im sure you have tried it already. Good luck mate.
After receiving new information from the vehicle owner, the immoboliser module 'buzzed' then the vehicle engine stalled and would not start. Then blah blah blah.
So long story short, we've bipassed the bipass switch and the injectors are now pulsing.
So she's away.
Cheers for everyones help and input.
