Pleeeeaaaassee??????? the frustration is totally setting in..

Are the big nuts on the strut tight? They can allow the insert to move in the housing. Had a good look at the sway bar end link bushes, when they wear and get cocked over you can get metal to metal contact between sway bar/end link/suspension

thanks people, appreciate the help. will try any and all suggestions.
if you've lowered it and you now have a knock you could have broken your sway bar link pin. mine snapped and made a knocking sound. although apparently they dont break all that often?
nah, not lowered. any other suggestions???
i had a 92 vp and it had the same thing your talking about but was a few years ago now, i remember it having a crossmember problem which cause the strut towers to crack from cornering hard. this was something that was overlooked when it got repaired. it did have some struts replaced but the main issue was the crossmember being loose, mine would knock around corners either way you turned.
I have this exact same problem. its the strut tops on mine. the rubber it self moves only a mil or less but make this horrible knock while cornering or pushing the front up and down. its not the bearing in the strut but slight flex in the rubber that surrounds it. took me ages to work this one out.
I'd be checking the nut that holds the insert in the strut.
that wasn't the problem on mine, just old rubber. The actual strut tops flex in and out. I have spent $k's on mine car coz every thing rubber on my car failed almost simultaneously. lol even the odometer gear. Rubber has a finite life span.
As others have said, I'd be checking the nut for the insert. Did you follow the instructions for clearances when you fitted the insert? You may need a spacer washer or two in the strut sleeve. The knocking noise you have could be the shock insert bouncing up and down inside the sleeve/housing.
I didn't install the inserts. I check before the inserts don't move the whole strut mount flexes in and out like a speaker cone. just need to save up and get new tops :P
thanks guys, will try any and all suggestions.
check your lower control arm bushes and your radius rod bushes
thanks, i will.
my vn does the same thing, does the front left side seem to bounce easeir then the right? because my right side clunks over bumps or when i get body roll around a corner, i just changed the shock and it stopped, if the shocks worn out enough, itl clunk and you will feel it aswell i did...
you can feel the knock in the steering wheel when ur driving. could it have something to do with the rack end??? bye the way, thanks for all the suggestions.
