slight tick

I was driving along and this later model ss ute pulled up beside me, so i thought... aw yeah. I lost of course but the old vp 5L kept up just fine, i was proud :'( she copped a good flog for about 10 minutes or so. I lifted the bonnet when i got home and noticed a slight tick from the top, only noticeable when you lift the bonnet. Any idea's, and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Injectors, lifter, or a broken manifold exhaust gasket.

lifters get worse. injectors are always noisy and heaps of people complain about them. get a screwdriver and put the tip to an injector and your ear to the head. if that's the ticking you hear, there is no problem
