what is it specially?
as far as i know, IRS is independent rear suspension.
what that means, i have no idea. what does it do?
and what models had IRS in the VN and VP series?
i've been told my 91 VN s2 calais is a 'non-irs' model. okie doke, fair enough
will wheels from a IRS model fit it then?
really got me confused![]()
Hundreds of threads covering this.. basically the rear wheels move independently of each other, not like a live axle diff where both wheels are connected along the same axle.
no vn's got it, only vq statesmans, then became an option on the vp, but mainly vp calais and i have seen some vp exec's with it too.
and yes wheels are interchangable
Power is measured in DECIBEL
yep thats what irs stands for, it lets one wheel move up and down without affecting the other side wheel. they can move independently of each other. hence the 'independent' in irs
there is no difference in wheels, what fits one will fit the other
if u want to see what yours has got have a look at the diff, if the axles look like cv shafts off a front wheel drive car, and have flanges where they're bolted up to the diff centre and rear hubs its irs, but if the whole diff assembly is almost the width of the car, with axle tubes 3-4 inch in diameter its the old style 'live axle'
