Check under the car for drips. My cause was total destruction of nearly all gaskets. Also a year latter my coolant started to go down again but this time it was rad cap.

    1. get it pressure tested
    2. if there's no obvious leak, bleed the system (if there's any air in it it will always force all the coolant out the overflow)

check that heater tap, it may look good, but could be leaking, they are very brittle break easy.

I didnt think mine leaked, but when i went to replace it, the hose lug was broken, but still sorta working

block up those hoses then, at the tap, take it out block em up, then water dont go in there.

Or u could change the heater core, but thats a mission

The radiator cap is probably the best place to start, if the spring is weakened with age then normal coolant temps will open it and blow the reserve out of the container. Good luck with the heater core, I've heard you can change it without pulling the whole dash if you make some mods to the hard pipes, ie cut them off close to the body of the core and fit heater hose to join up. Maybe someone else knows more about this?

I had a similar problem when I first bought my car, though I was loosing coolant due to loose hose clamps and the radiator cap was buggered. Like other people have mentioned go over all the hoses/connections with a torch, even better get it pressure tested at your mechanic..
