im sure theres a post on here already, but i cant find it, on how to take out the thermostat in the S1 VN,
cause its in the worst spot possible
take the TB off and should be able to get to it ? or need to take more parts off ?
i got just over 2 hours to do it, before the shops close incase i need a new thermo![]()
1 hour and 40 minutes to go ?

VN S1 V6 thermostat removal??
how to change thermostat?
for the sake of $10, i would go and buy a new thermostat first then do the entire job at once. a new thermostat won't hurt.
brought a new one just incase, this one was buggered,
took the old one out, ( pain in the arse to get to) chucked it in a cup of boiling water, and she opens up![]()
old one, has a opening point of 88 degrees, new one 91 degrees
so what do you guys reckon, put the old one back in, or chuck the new one in ?
( any draw backs of not having a thermo ? )
just put the new one in it will be more reliable then the old one and it will run a coupe degrees hotter but they always run fairly cold anyways you prob wont even notice the change
91 is whats meant to be in there

I know you can get 82 degree ones for them but i would like to know for myself if lower opening are available -maybe a 71 or thereabouts.
If you leave it out you can actually cook your motor - without the temp control-restriction the coolant can rush through without absorbing the heat. UGLY. If all else fails and none at hand cut the guts out of an old one so some restriction is there

i used to run an 88 in my car, now i run a 91, i found that it runs about 1/8 hotter on the temp gauge. i think i read somewhere that colder is better for power, hotter is better for economy. not sure if that's true though, but 3 degrees probably wouldn't make much difference anyway.
