The car has had this problem for ages. Cant find the source.
When you head off from a stop, if you have steering lock on, there is a clunk as you get moving. You can feel it go thru the vehicle. Replaced the tie rod ends, cant find anything else loose.
If you head off in a straight line, no clunk.
Ideas?
Thx
Alan
check your front end bushes from top to bottom maybe grease your lock stops ... how much turn did you have applied when this happens is it a high pitched tinge or a low clunk
It is about a half - 1/4 turn and a low pitched clunk. Just the one each time.
You can feel it back thru the steering rack.
Alan
it maybe the springs resetting or moving on the struts normally make more of a twang sound thou . check your rack bolts and shaft coupler bolts and the four crossmember bolts .
z bar bushes and maybe lower control arm.
a easuy one to check is link pins bushes.
make sure they are not split.
Also check the locking nut on your front shocks, had a strange noise when turning full lock myself and found that the nut was not as tight as it should be, nipped it up and noise gone.
OK guys, I have a list to work on.
Thanks
Alan
