hi all, i have a knock in my engine, that when the motor is cold, can be heard easily, but when the motor warms up, it dissapears, i also have a ticking thats constant no amtter what temperaature, increses with revs, sound like an injector or a rocker, any ideas?? i want it to run quietly (not like an ecotec lol but no ticks or knocks!!)
the knock on cold is prob normal as the oil has to pass through the whole engine ect and flows slower when cold, however for the tick, try some injector cleaner with a few tanks of preuim fuel, also give that Nulon lifter tune up thing a go, you just add it to ur oil, i used it and it worked for me with no problems
im 90% sure its injector, but it loud :S i put a screwdrive on injector rail, and then put my ear on it, it seems like the RHS closes to the firewall, if u know what cylinder that is :S how would i go about removing it? i got spares
being a VN does it have the anti knock reg fitted to the fuel line ??? should be bolted to the throttle cable plate next to the auto dipstick , looks just like a fuel pressure reg , fitted many of these when i worked for holden when the VN's first came out later models had them fitted as std from factory
that ticks the loudest, im sure its that, but i got told it had no moving parts, so i thought it was the injector next to it, its round yeah?
fuel line hammer is the correct term is was looking for the open and closing of the injectors causes the fuel pressure in the rail and the fuel line under the car to hammer , and produce a ticking type noise thru out the car and the fire wall helps to amplify the noise more , like a drum skin does.
the diaphragm may have split and no longer reducing the hammer effect
