Wiper question?

what controls the intermittent speed on the wiper system? Is the timing circuit/relay inside the wiper motor or as a separate unit/module some where else. My intermittent does not work properly and makes a buzzing arcing sound just like contact points inside a relay are burnt and worn out. I hear it inside the dash somewhere.

The timing circuit for the intermittent wipers is in the switch block for the wipers (on the instrument cluster binnacle). You could try a replacement switch block but I have seen dry/broken solder joints on the switches' printed circuit board which is an easy fix.
