vn calais may need a new motor

hey all, any help would be good, i lent my car to the ex today, then only to get a phone call to say my baby has over heated and she is stuck in town, mind you the weather got to about 42 today,

i got the car home(tow truck style) however i have a smacked out metal ratteling noise in the front of the motor, thinking maybe timing chain or harmonic balancer, she over heated so there also goes the thermostat and maybe the water pump, and i have the previous problem with the car hesitating to go which im putting down to the car needing new plugs and leads. ( i have done the plugs, just not the leads)

so i come to this conclusing, will it be cheaper to get a good second hand motor, or go all out and get a reco, i hear that some places can be dogey and not do the job properly, so here i ask guys,

PLEASE HELP ME, I NEED MY CAR BACK ON THE ROAD AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!!

If you want it back fast, it's quicker to swap the engine with another one. And it's cheaper too so if you are not looking to keep the car for a long time, then that's the best thing to do.

With a reco or second hand motor, and if reco, how much should i be paying for one, thanks guys for the help
