intercooler issues

i have a vn v6 naturally aspirated which is mildly worked with stage 3 cams and bored out with a bigger throttle body. i have it inter cooled with a pwr water to air barrel system. the barrel intake is the same diameter as the normal commodore piping and the unit is about 40cm long and the piping where it cools is about 14cm wide. the unit sits where the pipping normally goes along the engine bay so the length of pipping doesn't change from standard. i just took my car to get its dyno tune and my mechanic recons i am loosing more power than i am gaining with it. the reason for me putting it on thou is because it can get quite hot and humid up here in townsville and i put it on to keep the intake temps down. any help on wether to keep it on or not would be fantastic

So....You have a ic on a na car? Seems like a big waste of time dude, not to mention money for runing the dry ice ic. If you get rid of it im betting you wont notice a thing, maybe even a gain. Try it without and see. Whats the worst that can happen! If its a gain il buy the ic off you ;P

complete waste of time and money. W2A still only cools to ambient temp (assuming 100% efficiency) unless you have a ice cooler fitted which would way a ton and be totally impractical.

i'd get rid of it, fit a decent CAI and be done with it. save the IC for when you have FI

just causing an intake restriction is all its doing good cold air intake like immortalitys will be better

My advice....listen to your mechanic...

remove it immediately it is doing nothing....

thanks guys. i will take it off tonight. it was good to get some more opinions on it to make my mind up. i will put it away till i can afford the super charger
