I have a vp wagon and on the way home it overheated (nearly) it turned out to be the hose just under the alternator the housing that goes into the inlet manifold or block (couldnt see way to much steam)has snapped can anyone tell me what I need to ask for at repco and how hard it is to change. This is urgent as I have to get to work in the morning cheers guys
Thermostat housing
If its got Wheels or Boobs its gonna cost ya money
its not the thermostat housing. the thermostat housing is the metal bend held in with 2 bolts that goes onto the inlet manifold and the top radiator hose connects to it. the part you're after is a plastic piece that goes into the inlet manifold and the hose connects to it. its sort of like a garden hose joiner. there is a picture here on the forum somewhere, just gotta find it. ill post back if i can find it.

dont think repco sell them. well, they can probably get the alloy/brass ones kilkenny make now.
id be going to holden, see if they have one in stock first.
bypass hose and connector. cheap as but can be a pain in the arse to get out.
1 engine i done the bolt was rusted solid and broke off so i used a brass 3/4straight x 5/8 barb brass heater fitting and roughened it up and gooed it in.
still holding.

to temporarily fix and get to work I cut up a pen that was tappered and sicaflexed it into the brocken plastic fitting then put a bit of garden hose over the other end that was sticking out to build it up so the hose would fit over it, tighten up the clamp on hose and away you go Got the 30 kms to work through the city without going over a quarter on the gauge
ya can get that part from auto pro mate but not repco and should cost about 5 bucks i forget what its called
Its the Coolant bypass Hose connector..Usually available from Holden but dont expect to get much change from $20....I Paid the price for piece of mind..
