Default Are torgue converters all the same?

Hi guys a have a problem , it would be great if anybody can help.

I have a vn series 1 which has a good auto but the engine is tired.
I have purchased a vr engine and auto both in good con.
The question is = Can i use the torgue converter from the later vr electronic auto and install it behind my old vn -vp auto
The reasion - My torgue converter on my old auto stops locking up once warn.
The auto works fine apart from that, but we tow a caravan once a year
so it would be good to have it working.

If any one has any Ideas l would be thankfull

I don't know if the convertors are the same but they probably are. But I do know that it's unlikely the lockup failure on the convertor is the convertor itself. It might be, but it's more likely to be a problem with one of the sensors, TPS, Coolant sensor or even the ecu itself

I am pretty sure (about 90%) that all the v6's 4l60's/T700's used the same torque converter.... Only the internals of the trans where electric......

Pretty sure but not 100% (maybe give a couple transmission places a call? or look up some part numbers?)

Thanks for your help. I think you could be right about the sensors. Thinking that the engine is that tired it may not have correct manifold vac etc.. (the computer cannot control a tired engine)
Found on ebay so one selling hi stall torgue converters , vn to vt all the same. Will fit the vr converter just in case.
    Thanks Mark
