4 some reason the cruise control in my vn commodore keeps blowing the fuses whenever i turn the key 2 start the car..? Even when the ruise switch is turned off they still blow? Any help?
the unit itself could be faulty maybe?
what other circuits share that fuse ?
might not be the cruise control blowing the fuse
try disconnecting the cruise module connector (under the bonnet - black box with cable going to throttle body, located somewhere near the l/h/f guard.)
It only runs the power windows which i dnt have? Its factory fitted and i have never had any trouble with it before?
yeah disconnect it like darren said and see if it still blows the fuse.
gotta start somewhere..
Something is drawing too much power, that means a short - have you done any work on the car recently? Installed something using self tapping screws? have a good look at the loom attached to the cruise unit, is insulation worn away anywhere, is it rubbing on anything? After unplugging cruise module check fuse like the other guys suggested. If the fuse doesn't blow with the module unplugged then the fault is almost certainly within the module, ie a relay stuck shut and constantly powering the electric motor. (If the motor reaches its limit of movement and is still on it draws more and more power until the fuse blows)
Don't put in a heavier fuse without knowing what's going on, you can make things much worse that way.
