i;ve replaced the spark plugs, some of them were cooked and not sparking at all, and i've got fuel coming out of injectors ok. it kicks and seems like it's close to starting but just won't fire up. the orange light that's on looks like an engine it's on the left side of dash. any ideas would be appreciated.?

have you checked your radiator water to see if there is oil or bubbles in it? if it got very hot you may have done a head gasket.

I had the same problem with my old VN. Started as overheating, and water disappearing from the radiator but no water leakage under the car. Checked absolutely everything and there was no sign in the radiator of a damaged head or anything like that. Checked heaps of stuff, changed some crap etc. I can't remember all the things I went over now it was so long ago.

Series II VN, just will not start.

There's my thread of what I checked/changed etc. In the end, we pulled off the head, and it was rooted. So I sold the car.

Hahaha, with 300k+ kms on it, it just wasn't worth repairing. Plus I had my current one lined up so it was a win-win for me.

might be time for a compression test? the head may be shitted, i'm still getting the orange light but that may mean i've got no compression? i replaced the coolant sensor but i'm not too keen on pulling the crank sensor out.

reset the computer (unplug battery) i think that should clear the codes
then take it for a drive and if light comes on again do the code check then
as the codes will be new
