What should have been a routine seal replacement and service on the tranny has turned into a $1300 auto box rebuild. I don't even really know how it happened, "oh there are a few more problems" about 3 times... when it's too late to say "You know what, keep the friggin 'box, I'm getting a manual." Crap, $1300 would have seen a manual conversion done easy. It's not even my mechanic's fault, he's done the labour cheap as he can to try and offset what the tranny place has charged. It had better be the best friggin auto box I've ever seen.

Ugh! $1300 isn't too bad, a lady I know was quoted $1500 for just a seal change. I ended up doing it for her . Were there actually any noticeable problems when you sent it in for a seal change?

It drove ok, 3rd vibrated a bit but that's all. It was leaking like mad though.
