Hey guys, I'm driving north for Christmas and every time I get the car up to speed for a little while the oil light comes on.
I'm also getting some vibration in the footwell under load.
I just changed the oil and filter 2 days ago and when I check the level it shows it's got heaps (in fact it shows as being over full even though I put in the same amount of oil as usual (5 liters)
What can I do to check that it's not going to explode?
Did you Hose out under the bonet After changing the Oil?
How far over full is your oil? If your oil level is too high, the oil can churn under load, causing poor flow and a drop in oil pressure.

Ive been told it can fry your Oil pressure switch. My oil light comes on when i hose it out, Give it a boot around the block and run for 5 and it goes off.
I reckon u have a sludge buildup and its blocking ur pickup which is common and VERY serious in the buick V6's. My bros motor threw a rod, a mate has had 5 of em go and a mate of mine up the road has had one seize cause of this. everyone though it was low oil or faulty sender for these but it was sludge. Flush the oil man, engine flush, diesel anything. Best thing to do is take the sump off and clean it out but thats a big job but u gotta get some sort of flush through it or else will seize or worse.
If there was enough gunk in there to block the pickup, I'd be reluctant to use any form of oil flush. If anything, it's more likely to dislodge larger chunks of rubbish down from the rockers and block things up well and truly.
