I currently have a VP Calais V6 which im going to convert to V8. My question is can I use any V8 wiring loom from VN VP VQ into the VP Calais and still be able to use my stock alarm and immobiliser etc? And does the motor have to be out of a VP or any 5 litre with out any problems? Thanks
All the motors VN-VS S2 are the same and you can run any of them on the VN/P/Q loom. The engine looms are all the same, it only goes around the engine bay and into the ecu then plugs into your main loom, the only thing is if you use a dizzy from a VR/S the plug will be different on the VN loom so you will need to change that
i know this is a old thread, but im considering converting a vs series 2 calais using my vp calais 5L (HSV so it has the knock sensor), would i be right in thinking the auto will not work in the VS? Will i need an auto from a VR-VS V8? And what sort of ecu will i need, a vs v8 one? Thanks.
yes it will work if its a v8 box, don't be putting v6 gear in it.
any gear box will do it,the vn ecu does not control a gearbox though vr-vs ecu does.
search v.t.a.s on here (something like that) and you will see how it controls the gear box, though it also can be overridden.
cant seem to find anything on the v.t.a.s, i was just asking cos the vp auto is cable controlled and VR onwards is electronic, so just want to know if this would cause dramas
