Hi guys,
I'm new to this forum and thought someone may know an answer to my problem.
My central locking has started to play up on my VN calais. First it was the front passenger door, but then i noticed the rear doors wouldn't open when the front door played up. (This could've been the case from the start and i didnt notice.)
Are the actuators linked, i.e the rear doors open after the front doors?
Is there a way to test/inspect a dodgy door lock actuator?
Thanks for any help.
Damien.
probably be the contacts are not the best now. Check the door window module under the steering wheel for dirty contact. Else it's door trims off and clean the wire contacts.
Um yep the door lock module by the arial module under the glove box side of the dash.
But if you have door trims off do all the connectors for the locks and windows.

Door window Module?
I've pulled the door trim off the front and checked the connections, lubed the lock mechanisms.
Any other ideas?
Maybe try the central locking module. This is located up behind the glove box above the ECU.
I know this may sound stupid but when was the last time you dead-locked the car? I had an issue with a retro-fit where I didn't install the driver's door micro switch and eventually the central locking played up to the point it was un-locking a door while locking another. I ended up having to replicate the dead-lock and un-dead-lock to get the system to work correctly again.
It might even be this micro-switch in the driver's door.
Do you normally lock with the key or the remote?

Hi Keza87,
Thanks for the reply.
I dead lock it regularly as it is parked in a drive way near a bus stop.
I might try new actuator on the passenger side front door as i believe it operates like a switch for the rear doors.
Failing this I'll be looking at the central locking ecu and micro switch. I didn't think to look for a micro switch on the drivers door.
Thank you 88GreenVN for your input also.
Damien.
I've done a few, usually cleaning contacts worked for a while but eventually just replace them as they fail seems to be the easiest option.

I've pulled half the dash apart in a moment of frustration and i found the central locking control module which was above the ecu (passenger footwell) and it rattles when a light shake is given to it. I'll source a new one an di think this should solve my problem.
An interesting note for anyone else who has come across this in the past, my local wrecker advised that if more than one lock isn't working, then the main cause is the BCM under the dash (drivers footwell). Apparently the connection mounts upwards and condensation can penetrate the casing and corrode the insides. In saying this the unit controls more than just the central locking so you would more likely have other problems also.
