Decided to treat the poor old VN Wagon to some TLC.
Replaced the rear lower control arms with a new set of arms plus bushes from Nolathane as the front bushes were well and truly worn out.
Easy job and what a difference. Now the back of the car is quiet instead of the moans and groans which made the car sound like it was about to break in half.
i did the same to my VP wagon a couple of months ago. new upper and lower control arms and it feels so much more solid in the back instead of squishing around. well worth it.
I must get a price for the upper control arms. How much were yours?
nolathanes Not all its cracked up to be very harsh ride so consider that before the blokes at autobarn talk you into anything lol
Speed never killed anyone. Suddenly becoming stationary, now that's what gets you...
i got changeover upper control arms (pair) for $90 from bursons. the lower control arms were the same price from memory. i got nolathane bushes, which tend to squeak a bit. i'd probably go with standard rubber bushes if i were to do it again.
Make sure your car is at normal ride height i.e. wheels on the ground before you fully tighten the bolts through the bushes as you don't want them flexed when the car is just sitting at normal height especially if they are nolothane. On my VN I only ever had to replace the upper arms as the rubbers were split. I just bought brand new ones from Holden, cost me about $40 each from memory
