I need to know every single last detail about the rear end setup of vn grouup a commodores
What diff did they run? was it a VL housing?
What wheels, tyres did they run? what offset? (in street trim)
what wheels/tyres did they run in race trim?
were there any modifications to the wheel arches and wheel tubs?
Tried to find soe info on google about the wheels, couldnt find anything.......
Apparently the diff was just a VLT diff.... So shorter, 3.45's and 28 spline axles.....
Sorry dude thats all i can confirm lol
heres what i have. taken out of australian muscle car magazine. they had a real good write up on the VN group A. feel free to come by and borrow the magazine luke if youre interested in group A stuff. it has a lot of useful info
Larger wheel arches
- 25mm of extra width to suit 12 inch wide racing tyres
"These wider wheelhouses were fitted by removing (trimming off) a horizontal step that had been added to the VN body, to widen it over the VL whilst using VL rails and floorpan"
Rear Axle
Road car
- Upper and lower trailing arms and a panhard rod
- Borgwarner 7.75 inch LSD with shot-peened gears and a larger crownwheel for greater strength
Race car
- Ford nine inch crown wheel and spool.
- Harrop fine-splined axle shafts with floating hubs on each end with heavy CV joints that allow camber adjusment
- Two rose-jointed lower trailing arms
- Stout single top arm
Wheels and Tyres
Road car
- 17x8 alloys
- Goodyear Eagle tyres. 234/45/17
Race car
- 17x11 cast magnesium wheels
- 12 inch tyres

Wade Cam :: 9.2:1 CR :: Pacemaker headers :: Twin 2.5" Exhaust :: VT Brakes
1991 Supercharged VN Berlina
9 PSI SC14 Intercooled :: Genie headers :: Twin cats :: HM Twin 2.25 exhaust :: 3.45:1 LSD
yeah, the road cars used a VL diff with 3.45 gears.
that article is ace.
have you looked at the Mc Donald Bro's website? they do a rear coil over conversion for the commodore. uses new tubular control arms (all brackets supplied, welding required) to me it looks like the best conversion you could do. almost a full race spec setup really
