    Default VP Horn Problem!!

    hey guys,

i've got a vp commodore and my horn doesnt work.
when i press the horn the relay clicks
and the pully down the bottom on the right hand
side of the motor makes a clicking like noise
and moves back and forward a little,
i tried a vn horn and it done the same thing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Check the fuse on the Fuse Board in the engine..near the battery.. Either the fuse is dead or close it.. Or the Horn itself has shat itself ;p

clicking usually means not enough voltage going to horn.

    try this:
    1. disconnect the wires coming from your loom going to the horn, the other side to the negative terminal of your car battery.
    2. grab two wires, e.g red and black one, speaker wires are ok too. strip the ends, tie one side onto the body of the horn (black wire) the other side to the negative terminal of your car battery.
    3. Connect the other wire (red wire) to the same place the cars loom connection plugged into the horn.
    4. now tap the red wire onto the positive terminal of battery.
It should make a horn noise, if it's still clicking some horns have a adjustment screw for the diaphram inside them, loosen or tighten till a good sound comes out. If this still fails, horn is dead, chuck and buy a good second hand one 10$ ish
Now if the horn works then you have a voltage drain in that circut, best way to fix is remove steering wheel clean brass contacts, replace relay for horn with any other same size one they are all the same, or buy a new one 10$. Clean the negative earth wire from the battery to the body of the car. Clean the positive connection. If this still fails write back .. lol

pulley on engine makes a clicking noise, and moves back and forth??

sounds like theres something funky going on and its engaging the a/c clutch...

has it ever worked since you've had it?

with the heater problem, look under the drivers side dash, behind the heater/fan switch. there should be what looks like a long screw and a white(from memory) plastic runner for it. look at it and turn the hot cold knob. adjust as necessary.

The vents are controlled by vacuum. If they only blow to feet, you have a vacuum leak. Do a search for this one, lots of good information on how to fix it

all the doors for your vents are vacuum operated, the common connection that fails is at the back of your motor, it plugs into the manifold and can get brittle and drop off. It won't make much difference to the motor as the hole is small., but none of your vents will work.

glad to help, lets us know how u go with both items.

Hey guys, as rob drag racer said the hole ball thing under the guard is missing, the vaccum hose is still on the motor its just being cut off near the strut.. so will i just be able to get another ball and put it in then it will work or is it more complicated? cheers,

as for the horn i connected it straight to the battery and it worked so that tells me that theres a wireing problem somwhere between the horn and the steering wheel

    horn wiring:
    Things in circuit are:
Inside car Steering wheel - consisting of horn pad, brass contact ring (bottom side of horn) brass pin that is an earth this enables the relay in the engine bay to establish a connection.

    Under Bonnet:
Relay in fuse box, marked "HORN" you can change this relay with most in the fuse box to test if it is only the relay.
and last but not least HORN

If you can buzz the horn with direct feed from the battery then the problem will be horn pad - brass pin as described above or relay or a complete cut in the wiring to the horn.

RE: Vaccum Ball, this enables the vents to have reserve vacuum so when you turn off the engine the vents still can close you can block of this hose with nail, screww etc not really needed. If your not getting vents to open, definately sounds like vacuum line from motor to inside of car.

    hope this helps
