Difference between 253 & VN304

Hi Can some one tell me what the difference is between the 253 and a VN/VP304.
I have a 253 in my car with a T5 box and would like to fit a 304 inplace of the 253.
are the mounting and box bolt pattern the same?????
any help would be good

No. 253 will be a Trimatic pattern whereas the 304 will be a chev turbo (I think that's what it is) pattern. The mounting points should all be the same for the Holden 8's, not sure about boxes though. You can get the right bell housing as the VN ran a T5 box as well.
