Default Using VR/S Key with Centeral Locking in VN Calais

As the title suggests, I am thinking about using a VR/S key on my VN. My remote is busted and I want metal door handles, so I was thinking to change to VR/S key. I have a Calais with central locking and I'm assuming I will need the following parts off the VR/S: Body Control Module, Key, Ignition Barrel, Door Handles w/ Lock. Is that all? will I need another central locking module from the VR/S? or will mine still work with the VR/S key. Also my boot lock isn't coded to work with the remote nor do I have the key for it. If I remove it, can I still have it coded to the remote and use it with the remote and the in car button?

Only one main problem. How, without the VS ecu, do you program the body control module for the remote?

I'm running the newer key on my VN - complete with working immobiliser/security key etc.

you need the VR/VS bcm (or vr bcm and theft deterrent module)

.... but to fit these, you need to either alter a HEAP of wiring int he VN loom, or run a VR/VS loom (less effort)

either way - BIG job if you're doing it just for the key.

you'd be better off ripping apart a VR/VS key and fitting an aftermarket central lock remote inside of it

I have an aftermarket remote central locking unit but there is no way the guts of the remote will fit inside the head of a VR/VS key. I suppose every kit is different though.

Well my current remote it busted and I have factory imoboliser and centeral locking, and to get a new one coded I've been told is expensive. would the guts out of my stock remote fit in the vr/s key? how would i get the buttons to work?

For around $300 you can get a very good aftermarket alarm system fitted at a reputable auto elec or car sound/security specialist. I would seriously consider doing that if I were you.

Then get two nice new keys cut on remote-less key heads, and you can have your remote (supplied as part of the aftermarket system) on a separate dongle
