need a new exhaust (kinda)
Hello All,
I recently returned from the Blue Mountains with a hole in my muffler, and since I want to get a sports exhaust, I figure I may as well, as my car gets fartier every time i drive it.
Sosage said that I should expect to pay around 800 (i think) for an exhaust and extractors, does anyone know of any contacts in sydney who could do it for this price, or any other prices that people have paid?
I'm near Hornsby if that is any help... Thanks a lot...
EDIT and its a V6... thanks

i paid $380 for a genie cat back sports exhaust,i got a quote from the same place for extractors and they wanted $700 supply and fit so i thought i'd be smart and get the extractors off e-bay and paid $300 for them but got caught out when i went to get them fitted i was quoted between $200-$350 so when i get them fitted i probably won't have saved much if any!! that was at sureflo exhaust at ingleburn by the way!!

yeh for about $800 you can get a set of pacemaker extractors and a redback sports system, but for a hi flow cat you can add up the $$$ if you want its cruisey,
Cheers

yeah, $800 seems to be the price going around, but I cant find anywhere who will do it for near that price! I'll just keep looking I guess - unless the exhaust collapses, then it might become a little more urgent!!

Best Mufflers qoute ~1000 for pacemakers, mandrel bent exhaust with Lukey mufflers and installation - sounds pretty good. Botany mufflers seem to be about the same. Maybe they are all more expensive in Sydney!!!

mate, you could DIY the extractors ... there an absolute cinch to do
just unbolt the headers at the flange (2 bolts), undo the headers at the block (6 bolts or so) then just pull em off.
give the exhaust ports a rub down with a dry rough rag
(optional) use a LITTLE bit of heat proof adhesive careful not to get any down your exhaust ports and inhibit the air flow.
do the new headers up
piece of **** .. but as its been pointed out here, ya should do the header bolts up, go for a drive heat the system up, then retighten them.
you'll save a couple hundred $$$ there if you buy the extractors secondhand or off ebay or something
catback - $250 mark - INSTALLED (needs welding so unless u got time/skill... pro job)
headers - $350 mark - DIY(piece of cake)
= $200-$300 saving

yeah, I guess I could. And so far the quotes I have received have been around the $1000 mark... But I've heard mixed reports on how hard it is to DIY. I guess if I took long enough with it I could do it... Thanks for the help

Well i've been calling around all morning (decided I just want to get someone else to do it!), and I found a guy who will do Stainless steel extractors (paceys I think), hi flow cat and exhaust, with a tip (it was a nice touch) for around $1k. He also had a mild steel option, for $100 less. Both systems also have a 3 year warranty - pretty good i thought.
What difference does mild steel make compared to SS?
