hey guys, well have been thinkin for a far while on what engine i want too start building, i have a few in mind all different setups, im not lookin for extreme power, just somethin too have some fun in and that will make around the 200-250rwkw, the engines i have in mind are:
VT efi 5 litre, stroked too 355,
L67, super charged v6, inter cooled
Ecotec conversion, with cam, bigger t/b, hal tech comp, and then turbo or super charge kit.
Buick 3.8l with cam, t/b, hal tech comp, and turbo kit.
just lookin for some ideas, as i want too start building one soon, so if any one has history with any of these engine combo's please tell your story, with the too v6's i would do the cam and stuff and put it in the car while on my p's and turbo after p's, and of course the others i wouldn't be able too put in while on p's so will just build and wait...
any way, just got so many ideas goin through my head and cant make a decision so any help will be greatly appreciated.
Why a VT 5 litre? The only thing that's different to any other efi 5 litre is that it has a roller cam (I think?). If you were going to stroke it, wouldn't you change the cam anyway?
I doubt you need a Haltech. The delco ECU's are already quite programmable. If your going to turbocharge/supercharge, you need to buy a cam that's going to suit a turbo or blown application. Buy the cam after you know if you are going to go forced induction. The N/A cam might not be suitable for forced induction, and the cam you get for forced induction might not be suitable for N/A applications.
rjk's right, i wouldn't waste time and money building your engine up now if its going to run forced induction, coz more often than not its not as simple as just bolting on a blower or snail. usually requires the engine to be built with a whole set of different internals if its going to be semi-serious...
having said that the turbo buick sounds very cool. i'm guessing you got the idea from street commodores' v6 vengence project? if not then check it out... one seriously fast 3.8... and apparently everything they had custom made for the car is now available off the shelf so its much much cheaper. Plus, i dunno about you but i haven't exactly seen many of them on the road so it would be something very different, unlike the 355 stroker or supercharged ecotecs.
Another option is a NA kit for the buick from COME racing i heard about which if you have the cash to spend on it would be a great idea for you while on your Ps. Apparently it makes comfortably more power than a stock LS1
