You have to change the PCB board at the back of the cluster otherwise you'll get the problems you've mentioned

    Will fit in perfectly though
If ignorance is bliss why aren't there more happy people around ?

You can fit all the gauges and speedo from the VS cluster into your VP cluster.

But as said above - put a VS cluster into your VP and it WILL go up in smoke.

thanks Guys, you have saved me frying a cluster!

is changing over the pcb as easy as taking the cluster apart and swapping over the pcb?
i am a handy sort of person but i have never pulled a cluster apart. if it is a matter of a few screws and a simple dismantle i am sure i can handle it. will i be fine or to i need a higher technical background?

You will be fine then - just take the globes out and the nuts off the gauges. Be gental in taking the tab out of the voltage regulator.

Should not take more than half hour to swap them all over.
