Default Air con repair and blown fuse

    Howdy

My air con is stuffed, totally dead , it was dead when I aquired the car.
I have also removed the air con hose too, once when I was putting on new mounts.

So I am wondering what is the damage to get it regassed and ship shape again.

I have about $200 so I am scraping it in, but what would be the best way to get around this problem. Any way of getting a realistic quote that I dont have to pay for before the work is done.?

It might need more than a simple re gas.

Also the fan only works on speeds 3 and 4, and I remember somone telling me it is some kind of blown fuse, any ideas.

    cheers
    Dan

    $200 should get you a re-gas.

To get a diagnosis done on the aircon system then you would probably need to pay for a shop to do it regardless.

If its totally dead, budget around $1700 for new compressor, condensor, other bits and pieces and labor.

The heater resistor will be causing the fan problem. Leaving an A/C system open to the air isn't agood thing to do and if you dint plug the ports at all then the chance are the compresor is full off shit.

Air con works now, I replaced the resistor (repco dont stock VP resistors so I just went and got one from the wrecker $5.00) and O rings on the compressor, had it regassed and leak checked ($150.00 for the guy to come around and do it).
Fans a bit noisy on speed number 4, but saves me from roasting at the lights.

    Cheers
