Default heater tap can i bypass?

    hey
my heater tap is cactus. my vn started to get warm yesterday so i pulled over to check it out and it was pissing water out of the heater tap. just wondering as a quick fix will a piece of copper pipe connecting the 2 hoses together work until tomorrow afternoon? the reason i want to do this is i dont get paid til late tonight and cant get the new part til tomorrow afternoon. the heater tap has rusted through guessing its been on there since new in 1991
    thanks

I can't see this being a problem as a quick fix, just make sure you clamp the hoses onto the pipe nice and tight. All the tap does is act as a valve to stop/allow the flow of water into the heater core so it'd just be as if it was fully open.

Bear in mind though that you'll have a vacuum leak from the vacuum hose that goes to the tap so your air vents wont work correctly

Yeah definately secure it nice and tight, I did the same thing once with a t shaped peice of pipe (vp cooling system has a different heater tap) and it ended up popping off and spewing coolant everywhere

Shouldn't be any problems with it,the RAA did the same thing with replacing the tap with an elbow piece on my brothers VT,lasted over a week till it was replaced.
