    Default VP auto slipping problem

Hey guys. My 92 VP is slipping, pretty sure it's the tranny but I've read about another auto where it was the torque converter.
It's the worst when it's cold and slips like it's out of gear and just rev's.
It's also missfiring if this has any relevance to it.

Any ideas? I'll take it to an auto specialist but just looking if there's anything I should know here 1st.

    Cheers, Ryan.

your gear box sounds like its on its ass and about die, just look for a good second hand one(if theres such a thing)or rebuild the one you got,it will cost big $.Iam getting a rebuild done on monday and its costing me about $1,000.But just Check the tranny fluid and do a service as said above it could just be blocked filters

when was the last time you changed the fluid and trans filter?

Shitty old trans fluid will cause it too slip.

    Cheers

I just bought a VQ statesman V8 and im having the same issue.
When in drive the gears slip when changing from 3rd to 2nd when im punching the throttle...is that normal?

But if i put the car in 2nd and give her some, its doesn't slip? my car has 245,000kms 1 owner since new - i just think the tranny has been neglected (as in not serviced regularly) Im going to put her in for a service.

OD aswel as D.. not like the new power buttons next to the shift

I took my car to my mechanic today.
Asked for a full transmission service as you do. I also thought the car had a power steering leak. WRONG.
One of the hoses going from the tranny to the cooler plate was split and leaking bad. When he dropped the tranny fluid he said there was only like 2 litres in there!! god damn!

Thats 2/5's full. Thats not good. Hopefully when i get her back it will be smoother shifts and no more slipping?!! i hope. Also changed the diff oil - said it was very dirty.

low fluid will make it slip like a slipperly bitch haha. hopefully there isnt too much damage done and yea a full sump of FRESH fluid will make it so much better.

    Yeah i reckon.

The mech flushed it, refilled it - went for a drive.

Then flushed it again and refilled it again. Shifts are good now.
