    Default will car drive without kickdown cable?

    hey guys, some quick responses would be awesome. my old throttle body ****ed itself so ive just been down to the wreckers and have got another one. ive installed the new throttle body only to find that theres nowhere to connect the kickdown cable to the throttle body plate thingo. does anyone know if my car will run ok without the kickdown cable connected for just a couple of days until i can go back and get anohter one? cheers heaps guys. by the way my cars a vp v6 auto.

    Honestly, I wouldn't recommend it.

    But, not to sure.. Surely some one else can correct me

    Sounds to me like it must be a VR/S throttle body as they had an electronically controlled gearbox so no need for the kickdown cable. If the wreckers sold it to you as a VN/P throttle body take it back and have them swap it for the correct one.

    I image the car will still move with out the kickdown cable but I dare say the gear changes will be up to shit. Never tried it myself but I know that even adjusting the cable a little can make the gear changes go crappy.

    just unbolt the cable plate off your throttlebody and bolt it to the new one. just make sure you get the return spring and everything in the right spots.

    You can drive it but it will rev its tits off before changing gears and the gear changes will be very harsh.

    thanks for the responses guys. i just swapped over the throttle body plate that hakhawk recommended to do and it worked a treat, thanks mate legend
