So the last couple of days i have had a bad grinding/vibration in my 1993 VP commodore when braking. Does this mean pads need replacing or is there something else at fault?

Check the pads haven't worn down to the backing, or it will start chewing into your rotor, It wont hurt pulling it apart and having a look.
could also be warped rotors ????![]()
It can be caused by doing your wheel nuts up too tight, like with a rattle gun; other causes too but I cant remeber them. Its most common on fords, it will normally cause a shutter when breaking also. if there not too bad, you can get away with machining them.
breaking the speed limit every where, and heavy on the break pedal lolhahahahalso they do wear at some stage so theres probadly not much pad and rotor left ??
your probably down to the metal, but the vibrations hint at somthing else.
Check your pads, I had this problem when I first bough the car, some dodgey person had put VN rotors on it and since the VP uses V8 rotors(few mm bigger in diameter) the rotor was too small causing the pad to only grip half the rotor and wear unevenly, eventually the brake pad started slipping out of position, causing vibrations/shudders.
Cheers

Turns out my pads were ****ed! had about 1mm of meat left on them...
Changed them over, smoother stopping now!
Backs are ok for the time being though
