Default Distributer - anyone had this problem

ok in my 5L when i pull up at the lights the car will sometimes shutter and the rev gauge will go a bit spastic. and when i take off it will also shutter at lower revs and it feels kind of like it cuts fuel for a sec. there is the wire for the sensor thats inside the dissy, and when i push that in and jiggle it around it will be ok for a little bit then eventually start stuffing up again, so i presume it is distributer related, can anyone help??????

hall effect sensor on the v8 is equivalent to the cas on the v6. i bet the plug is bung as well, the sensor should be ok though. you could either take the dizzy out and try and fix it, or if it was me, i'd just replace the whole dizzy just so i knew that i wouldn't have to take it out again.

check mortons thread for ideas on how to get it out

It's not hard to replace the hall effect sensor but you do need to have the dizzy on a bench. If you are confident to solder and heat shrink small wires grab a sensor from Jaycar.
