Hello,
car: Holden commdore vn station wagon 90.
I need to change my 4 tyres size 215/65/14.
The pb is it's quite difficult to find some good deals on ebay or elsewhere.
The less expensive is a Kingstar for 85$. Bob jane is 102 until end of january.
Otherwise, all the brand are quite expansive.
The new size for that sort of car seems to be 205/65/15. I found some very good deal on ebay!! for new ones or good secon hand.
Can I swap to this size for my car (changing the rim too of course)?? What are the positive & negaitve?
Thx++

that's just for the speedometer. What about the rest?
Hankook 205/70/15 are excellent everyday driving tire suited to both wet and dry and very good handling...and reasonbly priced too
Floor it and swerve driving skool
I tried to edit the thread but I can't
I will change the rim too = 14 to 15 of course
i'm pretty sure highway max do a 215/somethingorother/15. i'm hoping 215s will fit on 6" stockies, i need new tyres![]()
205/65/15 is a very common tyre size as it fits Commodores and Falcons and is an OEM fitment. It is usually the best value point with the same tyre in a different size being more expensive. Without trying hard you will find this size tyre from under $80, to $110 for a standard type of tyre, to $130 for a "performance" tyre and upwards at a tyre dealer.
From a performance point of view..........well I suspect you are more interested in price.
From experience I don't recommend budget price Goodyears.
The highway max remoulds do come in the 215's and they are about 60 bucks each fitted (if you are in Melbourne). They are the best tyre you will get for under $120 (best under 200 imho but that's another story)
booked in for highway max's today, although the guy over the phone said 225s on a 6" rim was pushing it, he wants to fix 215s? i want 225s![]()
How come you have 6 inch rims?I have the 225s on 7 inch rims, but I'm running the 215s again now. I've had a few sets of each, I don't think there's any difference in traction between them so I really prefer the 215s (get the 215s) but the 225s look cooler because they have a very agressive tread. Both of them vary batch to batch, so If you can get a feel of them try and pick out softest pair
levy 225's fit fine on 6" wide rims :P i have them on mine and all you get is some very sexy bugeI think the current batch is pretty sticky..... Rolled them on the grass on the way to my garage to put them on and had little bits of grass stuck on them lol
I got mine from highway tyres in richmond, great blokes
but honestly the 215's and 225's are both great...... I think i remember morton saying he prefers the 215's for handling and the 225's for grip? i could be wrong![]()
Ive got 4 pretty much new bridgestone 215/65/R14 tyres and rims in the garage because i couldnt fit them back on after the brake upgrade.
Where are you located?

damn it! I will perhap's go to Sydney soon. What's your price?
awesome! i didn't get them today because i had something to do but i'll be getting them tomorrow. the 225s will look sooooooo tough so i'll just tell him to put them on. bad luck for him if he doesn't like it. i'm going to the joint in mordialloc because it's right near my work
got the 225s today, as foamy said they are a very mean tyre. scares me looking at it now. didn't realise they'd be directional as well, can't wait to try them in the wet. i'm surprised how much the handling characteristics of the car have changed though just by putting 225s on the rear (previous had diamondback 205s, and they are a very soft tyre). steering is now stiffer, and the car just wants to stay in a straight line. veeeerrry sticky
only cost $72 each fitted as well![]()
