Fuel Regulator V6

Hi guys!

Sused my fail start issue now.. Went to a mech for advise..

he told me to pull off my Regulator AIR hose, if it drips fuel.. its leaking, as it should not! It should only allow air in.

Soo.. Is my regulator shit? or is there an O-ring or somthing?

I also told him, the car starts first go when cold or if the engine has been off for more than 12hrs.. After that.. bout 30min or so it would wind wind wind bitch moan and carry on.

At first I suspected a head gasket had died..And was leaking oil on the cylinders .. but it wasnt thank god!

Its fuel getting into the IAC hose to the regulator causing it wind and wind..

Main Q is, how do I fix it?
Or should I just buy a new fuel Regulator?

*There is one thick hose where the fuel goes I suppose,
I was told to take off the back one that goes to the TB somewhere..And that has fuel in it when it should not lol.

Any help would be great full!

Should mention, it's a SERIES 2 Engine too

it sounds like the reg has shit itself... if that doesnt fix it, it could be your injectors leaking when the motor is off... my mate had the same prob...

Not sure about series two, but my car has 3 lines from the charcoal canister.

The fattest is fuel vapour line from the tank, second fattest from middle connector joins to throttlebody.

thinnest from top of canister to vac port on throttlebody.

I dont have a hose that connects to the reg, but apparently I should somewhere, attached to one of these 3 lines using a T piece, according to a GM diagram. Never had any problems though. None of these 3 lines ever have petrol liquid in them, only vapour... Dont know if this helps or not..

ive replaced the injectors

On my reg i got 2 hoses.. A thick one that i think runs to the tank..and a thin hose that goes to the TB some where.. ALTHO, near my tank I have a Breather hose just sittin there.. its not attached to anything.. Could that cause the prob?

Also, on the thin line that goes to the TB or iac thingy.. it has a T piece aswell.. which goes to my aftermarket cruise control

Ah well.. Im gona drop the tank and replace the breather hose..and replace the Reg.. Should fix it

Okay! Found out called my cars mech..

If you get fuel in the air hose.. your regulator has died and lost somthing inside it ..

This is mainly caused by when the car runs low on fuel for an extended time (Didint no that lol -thought the fuel pump would crack it first)

So, sadly.. Holden in mackay DO NOT stock the regs.. only repco does which is $150!! ;p

And i got the ol vp booked into my mechs next weekend for fuel line repairs :P

Take that bad fuel ecnomy!

get one from the wreckers will be like 5 bucks .the diaphram will have a hole in it you can cheat and block the hose with a ball bearing and plug it back on just to get you places for a while
