try turning it the other direction......
could be opposite thread?
Hey guys, i was wondering how to undo the inner CV shaft allen key bolt's connecting to my irs diff.
So far i have tried the simple allen key, allen key with braker bar, i even went out and brought a 8mm hex attachment for my rattle gun
Are they usually this tight??? as from memory others are a hell of alot easier to remove.
Any help will be very much appreciated![]()

Life is great once you own 2 V8s
Hahah yup, tried both directions
Normal thread - they are just super tight. Grow some muscles.

One trick is a allen key that's cut a bit shorter on the short end the goes in the bolt. You get less flex in it then, but yeah they are tight + loctite so don't expect any girly bolt action to work. Shouldn't be too hard with a key and a little extension tube over it
put a cut down allen key in the end of the bolt and give it a couple of sharp taps with a ball pein...and i dont mean swing from the hip i mean a couple of short sharp whacks...
Leverage, dude. Always use leverage. Jam the long end of the allen key up against a trailing arm, and then turn the wheel of the car. I got all of them like that![]()

allen key and bar worked for me, prick of a job, better left to a pro in my opinion, get the cv ,unis and tailshaft balance all done in one hit, I had to after a failed DIY attempt.
cheers
Dan
yeah half inch allen key and a braker bar works nice...
mate i have snapped allen keys used breaker bars done everything need to get spool out for roadworthy its snapping my brain going in to town tommorow to buy more allenkeys used my mates snap on today know shit brand snapped it after 3 keys thank f.... they have life time warrenty
I used a 15mm socket hammered on the head and a breaker bar to crack them when I swap my IRS center over recently
Loctite is loosened by gentle heat. Is it possible to heat the area up with a hot air gun this may make it easier. I've had to pull alternators apart that had the bearings held in with loctite bearing fix and it needed a gentle heating from a propane torch before it would budge. You don't need a lot of heat give it a try if all else fails. A hot air gun from Supercheap is about $40
Dont piss about with bars, get a bigger rattle gun.
Get a bigger rattle gun
edit: Just read above post...
