looks like the IAC plug but I don't think it would be able to reach that far.

As a starting point check if your IAC and TPS are plugged in on the throttle body.

The 'chips' I believe you are talking about are memcals which slot into the ECU kind like a SNES cartridge or a PC RAM stick. Delco does wonders with them from what I've heard.

Oil can build up in the throttle body over time as the engine oil fumes are ventilated into the intake. They are then supposed to be combusted by the engine which makes the EPA all warm and fuzzy inside. However over time residue will build up inside the throttle body and air pipe hence all the oil. My VP was much the same until I cleaned it. I'd recommend taking your TB off and giving it a good clean with some carby cleaner taking care not to get it into the TPS. TPS is the sensor at the bottom of the throttle body. I prefer to also take off the IAC and give it a clean with some electrical contact cleaner but others have used carby cleaner on it too with no probs.

You'll also get a better look at the back of the intake for that missing plug with the TB off. Take care removing the TB as the gaskets break easily. They can be easily made though.

Isn't there a sensor left and rear of the engine as you are looking into the engine bay, below the fuel rails, and behind the intake manifold? No luck on finding this in a service manual? Don't have one? Buy one!

looking at the first picture above in post one theres 3 sender units 2 can clearly see wires on the 2wire one with an injector style plug is ecu coolant the one wire one is the gauge wire the 3rd one is where that wire should go by the way thats a series 1 in the pics series 2 has only the air temp sensor in the back the 2 coolant ones are behind the alternator on the front of the manifold
