Been having a few dramas with the VP over the past 6 months with the cooling system constantly over heating and and shutting itself down until it finally blew the radiator to bits.
Finally i got off my lazy arse and have replaced :
Thermostat and housing
Radiator
top and bottom hoses and hose clamps
new coolant and bled the system for air
Now after that car was running fine for about a week then all of a sudden when you first take it for a drive temp gayge screams up to hot and engine lifgt comes on, then it cools itself down and runs at the right temp for the rest of journey.
what could be happening is this a sign of the CAS has had its day or something different ????????????
If its got Wheels or Boobs its gonna cost ya money
yeah put in fine could possibly be faulty thermostat may try another later
any other ideas of what it could be

I had the same problem which turned out to be a faulty thermostat. The thermostat had been in for about a week or so. First time I'd drive the car for the day the thermostat would be stuck closed until over 3/4 on the temp gauge then it'd open and all be fine. Replaced it and all good. Was a tridon thermostat. I've heard a few people have bought various tridon parts and found them to be faulty straight out of the packaging.

yeah, either theres still air in the system on the t/stat is dodgy.
did you do a flush as well?
did you jam a hose into the heater hoses and flush that?
not sure why you replaced the housing to be honest..
