why does my compressor cost a fortune?

just need a quick second opinion...

compressor squeals like a stuck pig. bearings on the clutch i reckon. figured to just grab another compressor second hand from the wreckers...

wreckers told me the v8 has a "unique" compressor and quoted me a price that is a significant fraction of what i paid for the car...

They are unique to the injected 5 litre yes, they are completely different to a V6. I have a good second handie, PM me if your interested...

Depending on where you are there are probably good wreckers to go to and cheaper etc.
New they cost from about $800 ish upwards.

what price did the wreckers want? i got one from the wreckers for $100 for my old vq 5 litre. highest price i found was $200 second hand and i tried about 10 different places
