Hi all, Got a V6 series 2 VN auto sedan and I'm currently getting the engine light on the dash for o2 signal code 13. Now, I've replaced the sensor and reset the ecu but still flashing the light at me. Most of the time it stays on but does flick on and off. I've replaced the DFI, MAP, IAC, TPS and a few other things to try fix the problem but still at square one.
Is it a bad earth? Where would I look for the earth location? It's a 2 wire BTW.
Cheers.
See if the sensor body/exhaust is earthed properly, measure the resistance back to the negative battery terminal it should be almost zero or at worst a few ohms. If it's high try a temporary earth strap and see if it goes away.

It's two wire as stated. I ran another earth from the neg on the o2 but still the same. Also I checked the signal wire resistance and earth pins at the ecu connectors and they all seem good. Faulty ECU maybe?
I forgot to mentioned that there is a faint crack in the passenger header but not sure if it's leaking...(seen worse) would this cause it?

Yes, the cracked manifold can cause a lean exhaust indication => code 13.
Anything that causes an engine misfire, feeding uncombusted O2 into the exhaust, can also do it. e.g. dead/dying 'plugs and leads.
Code 13 means a low voltage across terminals D7 and D6 at the ECM. Think of the O2 sensor as a (variable voltage proportional to exhaust O2) battery connected across D7, +'ve and D6, ground. Check the voltage (backprobe) the voltages at each terminal and the O2 sensor. A broken wire or connection between the O2 sensor and D7, or D6 and the earth under the DFI will also break the circuit and set the code.
pray to god you dnt have my bloody problem
code 44 beat down
Real cars don't power the front wheels, they lift them
Thanks Cheap, I have done all the tests and all seems fine. It may just be the crack in the manifold because it mainly does it when the car heats up. I'm either going to try weld it up or source another one (wish I kept my old ones from the VR)
Ok fixed the crack and still getting it. Where about is the earth located for the sensor?
Also every time I go over a few bumps (gravel road) the car cuts out and has no power and hesitates until it stalls...but start it again straight after and works fine!
Any Ideas??
I believe the earth connection is the one onto the timing cover near the water pump on the passenger side. But i'm not 100% on that.

Hello how did you seal up the crack?
Ive noticed that theres a hairline one runnin around the pass side extractors,
+ had to replace o2 sensor code 13, since replace i havnt got the pretty light on the dash, ( 22x,xxx) on the car
How much is a new O2 sensor for a series 2 VN V6? the one with two wires.
i got mine for $55 off ebay. Borg Warner. I think Holdens wanted like $80 for one.
I had a look at the sensor data with WINALDL and all i get from the O2 sensor is 0.004 volts no matter how i drove/ reved and code 44 O2 lean (oxygen sensor) looks like its a cooked sensor. only had it in for about 9 months 20,000+ km. How long are these things supposed to last?
longer than that mate i think it was something like over 100,000 at least
Would it be a good idea to go genuine?
