What is considered a good price for purchasing a VN Calais in good condition. What about one to do up, which may be smashed, parts missing etc.
Thanks in advance.
to be honest bro i couldnt tells ya but i suppose it depends if its a 3.8 or 5.0
i had one and decided to wreck it, was going to be a project, needed motor and box. i decided to get a new project, something not so common. but getting back on topic it really depends on lots of things as well, are you looking for manual or auto did you want it worked or have one or two black lines left down the road behind youtwo is the magic number, (especially with women) did i say that? oops, sorry. did you want higher diff gears or any other modifications as well as what kind of kms on it.
without trying to hijack your thread if you need parts i have most still with me including sunroof. pm me but if your interested in picking anything up as its better to stay on topic
what color are you chasing for your calais or are you not fussy? lots of variables if you want it accurate otherwise you might be a couple of g's out on either side of the scale
Thats about right for a good one you can get in a drive around right now, 2k for V6, 3k for V8, You might find a V6 for bit less, 1500 maybe. But they are worth more than an exec which would be 500-1000
Theres a white VN calais in town here, V6 (comes with spare engine as well), stock as a rock (apart from the seriesII in it, as it came with the spare motor originally), even still has the 1980's car phone. (has everything except the leather)
The guy wants 1200 for it. So shop around and you can get a good deal.
Most i have paid for a vn in the past 4 years is $500 and that was only because it was a manual. I have picked up about 3 vns and 2 vps for $300. They where all V6s, so i would say 1500 max for a tidy manual vn calais.

Matt- 1500 max for a tidy VN Calais manual?
I dunno what condition cars are like out your way, but for that price, we must have 2 totally different ideas on what "tidy" means....
Lets not be stupid people. Cars are worth different amounts in different states......

New radiator and fuel pump. Cost about $800 to get on the road with minor repairs and fixes. The seller had paid $3,000 for it 12 months before and stacked it into a gutter. It still has a little bit of a bent axle but - thats no real issue. All the electrics work in the car - even all the windows and door locks. Starts first kick.

I own two, a Imperial Blue V6 Calais 5 Speed manual completely immaculate, paid 3k with mags & rego. Then I got my 5ltr dirty pig paint short, looked like someone used the interior for toilet paper, a little work to be done, paid 900 grandpa spec no rego.I guess it just depends what your after.
I found an 89 auto with 165000 on the clock for $1000. Thinking of buying. Seems like a nice straight body, engine looked clean. Gonna check it out hopefully this weekend.
