    Default Rust....

Can this rust be fixed? Its only surface really but in a very bad spot.

Also whats been added to the boot here? Ill put in comparisen shots, cause on my V6 its rusting in that spot but what ever has been added to the V8 looks like it's stoped it.

    V6

    V8

And i might as well put this up, its got a rust whole around 3mm in diameter in the door sill and surface rust around that. I assume that can get reparied easily?

    Thanks.

Inside the roof rust would not be easy to get to. I've seen a few like it and I guess at some point it will take the life of the VN.

The sil you just take the rubber off and attack it from there with rust kill.

I wouldnt worry about the roof, so long as you can stop the leaks getting into the car that cause it, it'll last 100 years like that. You must live reall close to the sea to have rust in the sill of a non white VN?

it looks like your v6 has had the 1/4replaced and who ever replaced it never sealed the seems like on your v8 and the water has gotten in between the joins and rusted

The rust in the roof comes from the back quater windows leaking into the car - which ends up in the boot. Not only will the boot lid on the inside rust but so will the roof.

As Greenfoam said not all that serious - but one day it will be - and most VN's will be finished by then anyway

I think the seal in the boot must have been a running change with the VN's, that looks factory and I've definatly seem them without the seal. rust cant grow without water and if the car is sealed up good it'll last just as long as the vintage cars you use to see parked out in the desert for 80 years without any paint on them , spray some fisholine on the roof and forget about it. I've no doubt my VP looks the same as this as it's been leaking water from the rear 1/4s for a long time and was often full of moisture. But I'm not worrying about it

Thats kinda scary seeing that much rusting hiding in the roof, especially in a non coastal car.

It's not really no Holdens or pretty much any car have ever been painted inside the roof or even deep inside the panels inside the car. There's plenty of cars 50 years old with surface rust on the inside of panels. So long as they don't see water it's no problem
