hey guys i got a 1990 model vg ute, ever sinice i've had it its had this stop fuel smell everytime i fill it up.. ive changed the fuel filter and the o rings on the injectors.. cant really smell much on the outside of the car but on the inside it stinks..
any help would be wicked, cheers BAK3S
not sure about a ute but a sedan has rubber breather hoses on the tank, the connect at around the fuel nosel inside and go to the tank.
when they perish (commonly do) you get a strong wiff of fuel.
I have replaced them in the past, it usually involves dropping the tank and replacing all the breather hoses.
Depends on how keen you are, I have droped the tank on my sedan twice by myself.
Cheers'

Take off the cover in the tray that goes on top of the fuel tank after you fill up next time, you will see where the fuel is leaking out off.

Fuel tank breather hoses, or rubber fuel lines right near the firewall. The clamps on the fuel lines come loose and fuel leaks out.
had the same problem filler hose deteriated and a crack around filler tube on the tank not to hard to pull out and repair
