In the recent down poor last week my car (VP Berlina) was parked and was court in a flash flood. Although the water was half way up the doors only about 3 inches of water was in the car. And the car started as soon as the water subsided much to the disbelief of the drivers of the cars being towed away!
I have tried wet and dry vacuuming it every 2 days and airing it out at every opportunity but I can still feel a lot of moisture / water when I push on the carpet.
Is the carpet easy enough to pull out?
I know I would have to remove the seats but do I also have to remove the centre console?
Can I just buy standard carpet underlay and get rid of the stuff that is soaked with the smelly water or do I just dry it out too?
I have to admit I need the cheap option as finances are a bit of a struggle at the moment.
Any advice will be helpful
off the top of my head you would need to pull out the seats, console and probably the plastic strips that run either side of the interior near the doors. shouldnt be too hard to lift out. as for the underlay, yeah thats probably all yucky but i dont know if that would just lift out,you may need to scrape it off the floor
Pull the seats out and carpet out asap. It'll soon go mouldy otherwise. It's not that hard the seats some out easy (you need a allen key for the front ones) and then pull the console out. The carpet will be ok to put back in if you can dry it in time
